By contracting with our Preservation Services department (discussed elsewhere on this site), your previously recorded instruments stored in books or on microfilm/microfiche can be converted to digital images and made accessible through PROMIS or Archivist. The manual index records associated with the instruments can also be scanned and made available for viewing and searching. The index pages appear on the system and are searched in the same manner as the manual index books. When an instrument of interest is found, the user selects the name of the volume set from a list, enters the book number and page number, and the instrument is displayed for viewing and printing.
Similarly, computerized legacy index records can be converted and added to the PROMIS index, the associated instruments scanned, thereby making the automatically linked index information and images available through the legacy search function in the system.
